The short explanation of this alert was:

Resolve the Claremont Labor Dispute!

Tell CNL to settle the 4-year labor dispute at the Claremont Resort & Spa!

For over 4 years, about 300 union members at the Claremont Resort & Spa in Berkeley, CA have been fighting for a fair union contract with affordable family healthcare.  Approximately 115 non-union Spa workers have been fighting for a neutrality/card check agreement that would guarantee them a right to organize without management intimidation and interference.

CNL Hospitality inherited the labor dispute when it purchased the Claremont hotel from KSL Recreation in mid-February 2004. As interim manager, KSL Claremont Resort continued to wage an anti-union campaign, which included hiring anti-union consultants and forcing Claremont Spa workers to attend anti-union meetings.

In August 2005, CNL brought in a new management company – Interstate Hotels & Resorts – to operate the hotel. The workers expect that CNL will take this opportunity to settle the labor dispute once and for all.

Please support the Claremont Resort workers by sending a free fax to Thomas J. Hutchison III, CNL Hospitality's CEO, urging CNL to turn over a new leaf at the Claremont Resort & Spa by settling the long-standing labor dispute.
